چکیده

UNLABELLED OBJECTIVES The pathogenic disturbance of Saccharomyces cerevisiae is known as a rare but invasive nosocomial fungal infection. This survey is focused on the evaluation of apoptosis-triggering effects of UVB-irradiation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. MATERIALS AND METHODS The well-growth colonies of Saccharomyces cerevisiae on Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) were irradiated within an interval of 10 minutes by UVB-light (302 nm). Subsequently, the harvested DNA molecules of control and UV-exposed yeast colonies were run through the 1% agarose gel electrophoresis comprising the luminescent dye of ethidium bromide. OUTCOMES No unusual patterns including DNA laddering bands or smears were detected. CONCLUSIONS The applied procedure for UV exposure was not effective for inducing apoptosis in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. So, it needs another UV-radiation protocol for inducing apoptosis phenomenon in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Effect of Heat-killed Saccharomyces cerevisiae on Growth Rate and Apoptosis in Colorectal Cancer Cells

Background and purpose: Colorectal cancer ( CRC ) is highly prevalent and conventional therapies are associated with side effects, therefore, application of novel complementary treatment such as probiotics (especially Saccharomyces cerevisiae) is necessary. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of heat-killed form of S.cerevisiae on growing rate and apoptosis (expression levels of...

Protective effects of catalase overexpression on UVB-induced apoptosis in normal human keratinocytes.

UV-induced apoptosis in keratinocytes is a highly complex process in which various molecular pathways are involved. These include the extrinsic pathway via triggering of death receptors and the intrinsic pathway via DNA damage and reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation. In this study we investigated the effect of catalase and CuZn-superoxide dismutase (SOD) overexpression on apoptosis induced ...

P-18: Protective Effect of Selenium- Enriched Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Cytoplasm and Cell Wall on Chronic Immobilization Stress-Induced Damages in Testis; Evidence for Apoptosis

Background Previous reports showed that immobilization stress (IMS) results in severe damages at spermatogenesis level. Present study was performed in order to evaluate the protective effect of selenium-enriched yeast fragments on IMS-induced derangements. MaterialsAndMethods For this purpose, 42 mature male Wister rats were assigned into 6 groups (7 rats in each group) including; control, stre...

Crucial Role of TNF-a in UVB- Induced Apoptosis in the Immortalized Keratinocytes

The deleterious effects of ultraviolet radiation on human skin are via inducing inflammation, immunosuppression, premature skin aging and carcinogenesis. As the most energetic component of ultraviolet radiation reaching the earth’s surface, UVB radiation induces DNA damage and is a critical carcinogenic factor in skin carcinogenesis. However, UVB irradiation may trigger apoptosis and/or cell de...

Effect of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Yeast and Butyrate Monoglycerides on Performance, Blood Parameters and Nutrients Digestibility in Holstein Suckling Calves

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast and butyrate monoglycerides on the performance, blood parameters and nutrients digestibility in suckling Holstein calves. For this experiment, 32 newly-born Holstein calves (average age 1-8 days; average weight 38±1 kg) were used in a completely randomized design with 2×2 factorial arrangement, 4 treatmen...
